Training
The Library and Knowledge Services team offers training courses to enable you to find and evaluate information and evidence more effectively, when you need it. Our training can be delivered on an individual one-to-one basis, or to teams or larger groups, at a time and place that suits you. Our training is currently either delivered via Microsoft Teams, or face-to-face.

Literature and Database Searching
Do you want to learn how to find relevant evidence to support patient care, service improvement, or a research project? We can teach you how to:
create a search strategy from a search question
search healthcare databases, (e.g. Medline, CINAHL, Embase)
search online resources to find guidelines, reports and systematic reviews

Critical Appraisal
This session covers the basics of critical appraisal and to help you to build confidence to use critical appraisal checklists and tools, to begin to evaluate a research paper.

Health Literacy
Poor health literacy can negatively impact patient treatment outcomes, medication adherence and appointment attendance. We can help you to recognise what poor health literacy looks and feels like and teach you communication techniques which can be used to help a patient better understand their treatment.
